Andy Van Fleet
Partner & UX Strategist
at Visual Logic since 2001
Andy Van Fleet is the Managing Partner at Visual Logic, focused on building teams, partnerships, and user experiences that don’t fail when the stakes are high. He believes great UX doesn’t start with screens - it starts with culture. Collaboration, creative freedom, and honest conversations aren’t “nice to haves”; they’re essential to doing work that actually matters.
With nearly 30 years in UX, Andy has led hundreds of projects across military & defense, healthcare, agriculture, financial services, insurance, and complex commercial systems. One of the most defining moments of his career was designing a modernized warfighter interface for the Patriot Missile Defense System, now used by 17 countries. That experience made one thing clear: UX isn’t about polish - it’s about decisions that survive chaos, pressure, and consequences that can’t be undone.
A designer at heart and entrepreneur by nature, Andy founded his first company in 2001, Darning Pixels, which merged with Visual Logic in 2011. By blending strategic creativity with business rigor, he’s grown the company into a nationally recognized UX/HCD firm of more than 20 designers. Under his leadership, Visual Logic earned the #386 spot on the Inc. 500 list of America’s Fastest Growing Companies.
Andy is just as committed to growing people as he is to companies. In 2012, he launched UX Academy, a year-long program that has helped more than 50 designers enter the profession. He also regularly mentors BFA students at Savannah College of Art & Design (SCAD), often teaching the business and career lessons that don’t show up in design textbooks.
Outside of work, Andy spends time outdoors, exercising, traveling, fishing, and creating art. He also enjoys time with his wife, Holly, and their two grown children, Mac and Bella.
